In conjunction with the opening of the new Porsche Centre Sungai Besi, Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) has also launched the seventh generation Porsche 911 Targa, which is available solely in the 4S variant.

Based on the current 911, the 911 Targa sets itself apart from the rest of the lineup with an innovative roof concept that consists of two moving parts: a soft top and a glass rear window, which can be operated at a touch of a button. When the top is stowed, a wind deflector can be adjusted manually to reduce draught to the interior.

According to Porsche, the roof can be opened or closed in approximately 19 seconds when the car is stationary. An integrated rear ParkAssist, which comes as standard, issues a warning if an obstacle is detected within a range of less than 40 cm, preventing the rear window from colliding with a closely parked vehicle or other object behind the vehicle.

In terms of drivetrain, the 911 Targa 4S is driven by a 3.8-litre flat-six engine that packs 400 hp, enabling the car to sprint to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds before reaching a top speed of 296 km/h. Equipped with PDK and Sport Chrono package, fuel consumption of the car ranges from 10 to 9.2 litres per 100 km with CO2 emissions of 237 to 241 g per km.

The price for the new Porsche 911 Targa is yet to be confirmed.
