Subaru WRX - Recall

Subaru of America is recalling 72,000 units of various models equipped with the Eyesight Driver Assist System due to a faulty switch. The recall explained that if the switch fails, the automatic pre-collision braking component of the driver assist system will not function.

Affected vehicles include: Subaru Legacy manufactured between 10th March, 2014, to 16th April, 2015; Subaru Outback manufactured between 24th February, 2014, to 16th April, 2015; Subaru Impreza manufactured between 9th September, 2014, to 14th April, 2015; Subaru XV Crosstrek manufactured between 16th October, 2014, to 15th April, 2015; and Subaru WRX manufactured on 23rd March, 2015.

The recall goes on to say that, “if the automatic pre-collision braking system does not function as intended, the vehicle will not react to an obstacle in its path, increasing the risk of a crash.”

Subaru is said to notify affected owners and its dealers are to reprogram the faulty system at no charge at all. Alternatively, owners can call its customer service at 1-800-782-2783 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
