It has been reported earlier this week that the Volkswagen Group is contemplating a decentralised operations by dividing its 12 brands into four holding companies, following the resignation of its Chairman Dr Ferdinand Piech about two months ago.

The reports goes on to say that former BMW Manager Herbert Diess will run VW, Skoda and Seat brands, while Audi Chief Executive Officer will handle Audi, Lamborghini and Ducati brands. Porsche’s Matthias Mueller is said to head Porsche, Bentley and Bugatti, and former Daimler trucks head Andreas Renschler will run the VW Commercial vehicles and the Scania and MAN heavy truck brands.

The move to decentralised operations is said to stem out the company’s slow reaction to market changes for a more efficient and streamlined structure for quick, crucial decisions.
