Perodua 1st Half Performance Review 02

In an exclusive media briefing recently, Perodua announced a moderate increase of 14.8 percent in its first half performance, selling 108,500 vehicles compared to 94,500 units in the same period last year. The increase, according to Perodua, is mainly due to its hot-selling Axia model, which makes up 50 percent of its total sales.

“Based on our internal analysis, we estimate that our market share for the first 6 months of the year to be 33.8% based on forecasted total industry volume of 321,400 vehicles,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh.

Datuk Aminar said that its second quarter only had a small 1.8 percent increase, in which he attributed the cause to consumers’ reaction towards the newly implemented Goods and Services Tax (GST).

He also reported that After Sales Service’s revenue increased by 7.6 percent with RM292.6 million campared to RM271.8 million last year. Parts revenue, saw a 2.7 percent decrease with RM120.3 million from RM123.7 million last year. Production, however, has increased by 12 percent with 116,000 vehicles compared to 104,000 units last year.

“We see great potential in after sales, particularly in growing our revenue moving forward. We will be aggressively improving our level of service as well as looking at optimising our reach to serve our customers better,” Datuk Aminar added.
