Lexus RC F Heartbeat

Driving a V8-powered sports car will surely set your heart racing but can you show it to the passersby? In this one-off Lexus RC F, you can.

In a bid to demonstrate its technological capability and the increasing connection between man and machine, Lexus Australia, together with creative agency M&C Saatchi has developed an RC F that is capable of displaying a person’s heartbeat on its body panels.

To pull off the trick, Lexus equips the car with a heart rate monitor that is connected to the driver. Data will be sent to and processed by an on-board system, which will then transmit it in the form of electrical charge through the RC F’s body panels that are covered in an electroluminescent paint. Turn the whole system off and you’ll see an RC F in a standard silver paint.

Lexus Australia chief executive Sean Hanley said: “This latest concept follows other innovative projects we have developed this year including smart outdoor advertising billboards that respond to the car you’re driving and our fantastic new Lexus hoverboard.”

“The heartbeat car also links to another key part of our brand – high performance vehicles – via our F brand, and the emotional response a person gets from a machine like the RC F coupe.”
