2016 Lexus GS Facelift 04

Toyota’s new 2.0-litre turbo engine has found home in the Lexus NX, IS as well as the upcoming RX. The list doesn’t seem to stop there, as the 2016 GS becomes the latest model to adopt the force-fed four banger.

Set to debut at this weekend’s Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance, the facelifted GS features a new front bumper, redesigned spindle grille with satin chrome trim, and sharp bi-LED headlights. Slightly altered, the rear section sports new tail light and lower bumper designs.

Depending on variant, the GS rides on 18- or 19-inch wheels. Matador Red Mica, Nightfall Mica and Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0 are among the new colours offered for the sedan.

Inside, the 12.3-inch screen gains full-screen map capability when equipped with navigation, which is standard in the GS 350 and GS 450h. Other changes include enhanced voice recognition, better graphics as well as Siri Eyes Free Mode for the iPhone users. The latter enables drivers to make calls, select songs and get turn-by-turn navigation through Apple Maps just by asking Siri.

Under the hood, the GS 200t features the familiar 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 241 hp and 350 Nm, which is sent to the rear axle via an eight-speed auto transmission.

The GS 350, on the other hand, soldiers on with the 3.5-litre V6 engine that churns out 311 hp and 380 Nm of torque. Leading the lineup is the GS 450h, which benefits from the same six-cylinder engine and an electric motor for a total output of 388 hp.

All three variants can be enhanced with the optional F Sport package that incorporates exterior and interior kits, tuned chassis, staggered tyre sizes as well as Lexus Dynamic Handling (LDH) system with Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS).
