The all-new Suzuki Baleno, essentially the production version of the iK-2 Concept unveiled in Geneva earlier this year, is all set and ready for its premiere at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.
Not much information has been given except that the B-segment hatchback will be powered by the new 1.0-litre Boosterjet direct injection turbocharged petrol engine that is claimed to “save fuel while delivering driving pleasure.”
No mention on the output either but the downsized turbo engine could be joined by a mild hybrid drivetrain called SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki).
In terms of dimensions, the Baleno shouldn’t be bigger than the iK-2 concept, which measures in at 4,023 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, 1,450 mm tall and a wheelbase of 2,520 mm. Suzuki says lots of effort has been put into the car’s layout in order to meet the rigorous size and weight requirements specific to compact cars.
The all-new Suzuki Baleno will be launched in the UK next summer.
SUZUKI BALENO HATCHBACK TO DEBUT AT THE 66TH IAA FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW
The all new Suzuki Baleno, an ideal hatchback from compact car expert Suzuki is set to make its world premiere at the 66th IAA Frankfurt Motor Show.* The debut of the full production version follows on from the iK-2 Concept seen at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. In addition to fulfilling fuel efficiency and dynamic performance expectations, the layout has been optimised and various technologies used to reduce weight in order to meet the rigorous size and weight requirements specific to compact cars. The new Baleno will be launched in the UK early next Summer.
Further details of the Suzuki Baleno will be disclosed at the Suzuki press conference at the Frankfurt Motor show. The conference will be held at 1.15pm on Tuesday 15th September. We look forward to welcoming you on stand B12 in Hall 9.0.
