Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster 01

The new Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce Roadster has been unveiled at last weekend’s Monterey Car Week at Pebble Beach in California. The V12-powered car is the brand’s first topless car to bear the highly reputable SV designation.

Limited to 500 units worldwide, the Aventador SV Roadster comes with a two-piece hardtop made from carbon fibre – each weighing less than 6 kg – that can be stowed easily in the front luggage compartment.

Lambo’s latest offering is powered by a screaming 6.5-litre V12 engine with 740 hp at 8,400 rpm and 690 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm, which is 50 hp more than the regular Aventador Roadster. It is also 50 kg lighter than its non-SV counterpart, leading to an impressive power-to-weight ratio of just 2.1 kg per hp.

A seven-speed gearbox sends the power to all four wheels through a Haldex Generation IV 4WD system. Its list of weapon includes adaptive Magneto Rheological suspension, a pushrod damping system and Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS).

As such, 0 to 100 km/h is completed in just 2.9 seconds, while top is rated more than 350 km/h. Slower than the Aventador SV but who really cares?
