Based on the 1200 S, the 1200 R uses the same 1200 cc Testastretta 11° DS engine but has been tweaked a little (Compression ratio adjusted from 12.5:1 to 13:1) to give it 15 hp more at 160 hp and 5.5 percent more torque at 131.4 Nm.

Apart from that the 1200 R loses a couple of kilos with a new tailpiece, 3-spoke forged wheels, and carbon fibre components, giving it a total dry weight of just 180 kg. There’s also Ohlins adjustable front forks, Ohlins rear suspension and shock absorber, and Ohlins steering damper.

Everything else looks to remain the same as the 1200 S, using the signature Trellis frame. However, the chassis set-up has been raised by 15 mm to ensure better lean angles for track usage.

Also standard is the Ducati Safty Pack (DSP) which includes the ABS and Ducati Traction Control systems, managed by three different Riding Modes (Sport, Touring and Urban).
