BMW M2 Production 01

Production of the new BMW F87 M2 Coupe has begun at the automaker’s Leipzig plant. The newest member of the M family joins the same production line as the 2 Series Coupe and Convertible, 2 Series Active Tourer as well as the five-door 1 Series.

According to BMW, the total production volume in the Leipzig plant currently stands at 750 cars per day, with over 100 BMW i3’s and 20 i8’s. The sports coupe will make its market debut April next year in Germany, where it will be sold at 56,700 euros.

In case you need a reminder, the M2 is powered by a 3.0-litre single-turbo inline-six engine with 365 hp at 6,500 rpm and 465 Nm of torque between 1,450 and 4,750 rpm. With the standard six-speed manual gearbox, the coupe sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds, onwards to a top speed of 250 km/h.
