Hyundai Genesis

Hyundai is looking to position itself further into the luxury market with the launch of its own luxury brand called Genesis.

According to the South Korean automaker, Genesis will be a stand-alone brand that operates alongside the company’s regular Hyundai marque. It will encompass four key aspects: Human-focused innovation, refined and balanced performance, athletic elegance in design as well as hassle-free customer experience.

Hyundai aims to launch six new Genesis models by 2020 and will compete with other renowned luxury car brands. We’re not sure of the models as of yet but we know they will be badged with a new wing-type emblem and will be named by combining the letter ‘G’ with a number, 90, 80 or 70 etc. to represent the segment.

The further differentiate itself from the Hyundai brand, the Genesis lineup will be designed by the company’s Prestige Design Division, headed by former Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, SEAT and Skoda designer Luc Donckerwolke. The division will be overseen by none other than President and Chief Design Officer (CDO) Peter Schreyer himself.
