Lexus RC F GT3 01

Lexus has partnered with American race car driver Paul Gentilozzi to form the new F Performance Racing team. The team will field the RC F GT3 in a soon to be announced series with veteran Scott Pruett behind the wheel.

Built by Toyota Technocraft Japan, the RC F GT3 is enhanced with flared body kit and a huge rear wing at the rear. It will be powered by a production-derived 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine that is said to produce more than 500 hp to the wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox.

As exciting as it sounds, the car will have a limited schedule in its inaugural year as focus will be on developing the race organisation while gathering data and track experience for vehicle development. The team will instead have a full racing schedule with a multi-vehicle effort in the 2017/18 season.

Pruett, who according to Lexus brings a wealth of experience, will be key to the team’s title challenge. The Californian has won the 24 Hours of Daytona a total of five times, earned 12 class victories and a record 60 wins in American sports car competition. He was also involved in the development and global promotion of both the LFA and IS F.
