The Uber Driver in India that raped his passenger has been dealt with a maximum sentence of life imprisonment by a court in Delhi after he was found guilty of his crimes, according to a report on Reuters.

The report cited Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja saying, “Keeping in view the facts and evidences in the case, I sentence Shiv Kumar Yadav, to rigorous life imprisonment.”

Yadav, in the trial that was fast-tracked to meet public demands for swift justice, received his sentence for 3 counts of crime which includes rape, kidnapping and criminal intimidation, of a woman who used the Uber service to get home from a party last December.

Yadav, who hid his criminal records using fake references to get his job with the U.S.-based mobile-app ride-sharing service, is said to have driven to a secluded place to take advantage of the woman who had fallen asleep on the way home.

The case has prompted the Indian government to temporarily ban Uber’s services there.
