Remember the stunning Alfa Romeo Disco Volante that was unveiled four years ago? Say hello to its topless cousin, the Disco Volante Spider, which will be wowing the crowd at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
Built by Italian design house Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, the jaw-dropping Disco Volante Spider is a rare specimen created to celebrate the firm’s 90 years in business. Like the hardtop, the Spider is based on the gorgeous 8C Competizione, itself a rare piece of machinery with production limited to just 500 units worldwide.
According to various reports, there will only be seven units of the Disco Volante Spider, and each one will come in a different colour. This example is painted in Blue Ceruleo, which translates to Sky Blue. The roof is made of two carbon fibre panels – said to be developed together with Alfa Romeo’s own engineers – that can be stowed in the trunk when not in use.
Currently, there are no official words regarding the drivetrain, but if we were to take a guess, it would be the same 450 PS/470 Nm 4.7-litre V8 engine and six-speed semi-automatic transmission that powered the 8C.
