The upcoming New York Auto Show, which will take place later this month, will see the unveiling of the next-generation Subaru Impreza in both sedan and five-door hatch forms. Both cars were previewed in their concept forms last year.
Accompanying the announcement is a single teaser image, which partly reveals the Impreza’s supposedly sharper front fascia. The hexagonal grille is retained, which is good, but from what we can see, the headlight design has been watered down for the production model. But then again, Subaru is not known for its keenness to stay close to its concept.
Nonetheless, the upcoming Impreza will be an exciting product largely due to its all-new global platform. Revealed a few days ago, the new platform is 70 to 100% more rigid than the current platform, and boasts a 40% increase in impact energy absorption. It also has a lower centre of gravity, and 50% reduction in body roll thanks to a chassis-mounted rear stabiliser.
