Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) has launched the facelifted Porsche Macan, following its Malaysian debut two years ago. Apart from equipment updates, the 2016 model year brings slightly more power under the hood as well.
Appearance-wise, not much has changed. Not like the Macan needs it, as it is still one of the best looking SUVs money can buy. That said, customers can now opt for the sleek-looking four-point LED headlights that come with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus), which features cornering light function and speed-sensitive light range control.
The cabin plays host to several new features, including the latest iteration of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system. Said system is accessed via a seven-inch touchscreen that has a proximity sensor as well as WiFi hotspot. It is also compatible with Apple CarPlay system.
The base Macan is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an output of 252 hp from 5,000 to 6,800 rpm and 370 Nm of torque from 1,600 to 4,500 rpm – 15 hp and 20 Nm more than before. The output routes through a seven-speed PDK transmission, which channels the drive to all four wheels.
On the performance front, the Macan goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, beating previous century time by 0.2 seconds. Top speed is at 229 km/h. No mechanical changes were announced for other variants of the Macan.
Pricing for the facelifted 2016 Porsche Macan will be announced at a later date. The current base model is priced at RM435,000.
