Honda Civic Thailand Launch 02

The all-new Honda Civic, set to be launched in the second quarter of 2016, is officially open for booking, Honda Malaysia has announced. The 10th generation model will be available here with two engine options – the 1.8L i-VTEC and the much-talked-about 1.5L VTEC Turbo.

On the performance front, the latter delivers 173 PS and 220 Nm of torque, which is equivalent to a 2.4-litre engine performance. This will be the first engine for Honda Malaysia to adopt the direct injection system. The former has 141 PS and 174 Nm of torque on tap. Both variants are equipped with a CVT.

Measuring 4,630 mm in length, 1,799 mm in width and 1,416 mm in height, the new Civic is said to be lower and wider than before. The rear seat foot space width has also been increased by 27 mm compared to the current model.

On top of that, body rigidity and steadiness are also improved thanks to front MacPherson suspension and rear multilink suspension. Lightweight soundproofing system, along with an underbody covering plus a high noise isolation door system help to reduce the vehicle’s noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).

As for standard equipment, the Civic comes complete with Remote Engine Start, Walk Away Auto Lock, Electric Parking Brake, Brake Hold, as well as eight-way power driver’s seat for all variants. The 1.5L Turbo variant rides on a set of 17-inch alloy wheels while the 1.8L is fitted with 16-inch alloy wheels.

Safety-wise, both variants get Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), ISOFIX and six airbags (dual front, side, and curtain).

Customers will be able to view the all-new Honda Civic for the first time in Malaysia at My Auto Fest 2016 which will take place from 20th – 22nd May 2016 (10:00am to 9:00pm) at Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
