You read that right. The 19th edition of Kembara Mahkota Johor that will kick off this Saturday will feature not one, but three customised Mack trucks. According to New Straits Times, the red, blue and white truck received by Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar in January this year will be joined by two new trucks, one boasting a scorpion theme and the other a bright orange finish.
Piloting the two new trucks will be Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim.
Other vehicles set to join the annual entourage include 35 Harley-Davidson motorcycles and ten 4WD vehicles for the officials. They will be escorted by the Royal Malaysian Police along all the stops.
According to state secretary Datuk Ismail Karim, this year’s royal tour has no special theme but the objectives remain the same which is to strengthen the bond between the royal institution and the people, in line with the “Bangsa Johor, Raja dan rakyat berpisah tiada” spirit.
The entourage will cover 10 districts over four days, with a total distance of 842 km. It will be flagged off at Dataran Rakyat on May 14 and would end at the R&R area of the Eastern Dispersal Link Highway on May 17. The FA Cup will also be brought to Taman Yayasan in Segamat should JDT triumph over PKNS in this Saturday’s FA Cup final.
