Volkswagen Group Malaysia has announced that it is accepting bookings for the soon-to-be-launched Volkswagen Vento, which replaces the outgoing Polo Sedan.
Available in three variants – Highline, Comfortline and Trendline – the Vento comes with a more upmarket look compared to the Polo thanks to a host of new design features including a three-slat chrome grille, redesigned bumper and LED tail lamps. Not much has changed in the cabin, except that it now features a new flat-bottomed steering wheel and an upgraded centre console.
The Vento is the only turbocharged sedan in its class, the range-topping Vento Highline is equipped with a 1.2-litre TSI (turbocharged and direct injection) engine that produces 105 PS and a 175 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 4,100 rpm. The drive routes to the wheels through a seven-speed DSG.
Safety-wise, the sedan boasts Electronic Stability Control (ESC), four airbags (front and side), ABS, Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS) as well as ISOFIX anchorage point for child seats. It also earned a five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.
The Volkswagen Vento will be available in five colours: Candy White, Flash Red, Reflex Silver, Carbon Steel Grey and Deep Black. Official prices are yet to be announced, but the sedan is expected to be priced between RM80,000–RM90,000.
