Ducati, through its sole importer and distributor in Malaysia Next Bike Sdn Bhd, has unveiled five new 2016 models as a run up to the 2016 Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix – the 959 Panigale, Hypermotard 939, Monster 1200 R, Multistrada 1200 Enduro and XDiavel.

Naza World Group of Companies group executive chairman Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin said although some may say the current automotive market is facing a slowdown in sales, he is confident Ducati will always have a steady following.

The event was also in conjunction with the local celebration for Ducati’s 90th Anniversary which started off at the symbolic Sala Rossa of the City Hall of Bologna, Italy, followed by the opening of the newly renovated Ducati Museum, a ‘Globetrotter 90’ motorcycle world tour on the Multistrada 1200 Enduro, a special-edition of the World Ducati Week (WDW) and a dedicated Ducati 90 line of accessories and apparels.


The 959 Panigale now boasts a larger capacity and is now a “Supermid” model which shares the same stylistic features with the 1299 Panigale.

It’s powered by a new 955cm3 twin-cylinder power unit, the first Superquadro to have obtained Euro 4 type-approval, which generates 157hp at 10,500rpm.

It displays a silhouette derived from the 1299 Panigale, with a redesigned nose fairing, headlight and tailpiece, and features the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), Riding Mode technology including Ride-by-Wire, triple-stage Bosch ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and Engine Brake Control (EBC) featured by the Panigale are in line with Ducati’s very own standards of technological excellence.

The wider nose fairing and screen improve aerodynamic performance and add to the aggressive look of the new front end, also enhanced by larger-section front air intakes, while the split tailpiece design includes redesigned lateral air intakes and new rear view mirrors.

The new bike is also equipped with aluminium billet-machined footrests for enhanced boot grip while riding.

The 959 Panigale is available in traditional Ducati red with black wheels or a stunning Arctic White Silk with contrasting red wheels.

Three versions of the Hypermotard 939 – the Hypermotard 939, Hypermotard 939 SP and Hyperstrada 939 Tourer – are all powered by the new EURO 4 certified 937 cm3 Ducati Testastretta 11° twin-cylinder engine which generates 113hp.

The whole range is equipped with the Ducati Safety Pack which includes a two-level ABS for the Hypermotard 939 and Hyperstrada 939 and a three-level ABS  for the Hypermotard 939 SP, eight levels of Ducati Traction Control and three Riding Modes with different electronic settings.

The new Hypermotard 939 is powered by a 937hp 11° engine, long-stroke suspension and top-level performance and safety ensured by its advanced technology.

Its suspensions have a 43mm diameter upside-down Kayaba fork with 170mm travel and a Sachs shock absorber with adjustable rebound damping, providing 150mm wheel travel.

A raised comfort saddle with 20 mm of extra padding is also available as a Ducati Performance accessory.

It’s available in the typical Ducati Red colouring as well as “Star White Silk”, both paired with a red frame.

The Hypermotard 939 SP has a livery inspired by the MotoGP, with a rear suspension which uses a fully adjustable Öhlins shock absorber which allows for 175 mm rear wheel travel, and comes with three dedicated riding modes – Race, Sport and Wet – ABS and DTC.

The raised ride height of the SP version allows for a 47.5° lean angle, taking its ride height of the Hypermotard 939 SP to 890 mm.

A 20mm lower saddle is available as a Ducati accessory on request, and the bike is available with a new SP colour scheme featuring a red Trellis frame, magnesium valve covers and carbon fibre parts.

Meanwhile, the Hyperstrada 939 comes equipped with 50 litre semi-rigid removable bags and a centre stand, with handlebars raised by 20mm and a touring windshield for increased comfort.

It comes in Ducati Red with an elegant grey coloured frame.

The Monster 1200 R is powered 1200 cc Testastretta 11° DS “R” version twin-cylinder engine which delivers 160hp maximum power.

It sports a completely redesigned, compact, lightweight and high-slung tailpiece, seat and high-mounted plate holder, and is equipped with new suspensions and Öhlins steering damper, and separate rider and passenger footpegs to enhance its racing-inspired riding experience.

The bike is available in two colour schemes – Ducati Red and Thrilling Black.

The Monster 1200 R is also equipped with the Ducati Safety Pack including the ABS and Ducati Traction Control systems, managed by three different Riding Modes – Sport, Touring and Urban.

Cornering ABS, Cornering Lights (DCL), Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and the semi-active Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) Evolution system with 200mm of wheel travel all come as standard on the Multistrada 1200 Enduro.

Moreover, for the very first time on a Ducati, Vehicle Hold Control (VHC) has been introduced to aid uphill starts.

The bike is powered by the 160hp Ducati Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) engine with EURO 4 type approval, now equipped with a new exhaust system, and also features four Riding Modes – Enduro, Touring, Sport and Urban.

The Multistrada 1200 Enduro comes in three different colours (Ducati Red, Phantom Grey and Star White Silk) and can be personalised with items from the comprehensive Ducati Performance accessory catalogue by Touratech which includes the four Enduro, Touring, Sport and Urban packages.

The XDiavel is powered by a twin-cylinder Testastretta engine with maximum power of 156hp.

The rider can choose from 60 different ergonomic configurations, made up of four different footrest positions, five different seats and three different handlebars.

Furthermore the passenger has the option to choose between a regular seat and a comfort seat with backrest, both available as standard equipment.

Available also as an S version, the XDiavel features a black-only colour scheme, with the matt black becoming gloss on the S version.

The bike also has the innovative DRL (Daytime Running Light) at the front, forks with DLC coating, Brembo M50 front brake callipers, a special seat and parts with machine-finished highlights.

These include eye-catching alloy wheels and aluminium engine belt covers, given even greater allure thanks to the gloss black paintwork.
