Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) today launched its locally assembled IONIQ Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), priced from RM100,328 OTR without insurance, available in two variants – HEV and HEV Plus.
It’s powered by a Kappa 1.6 Atkinson GDI four-cylinder engine which generates 103hp at 5,700rpm and peak torque of 147Nm at 4,000rpm, mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission (6DCT).
Combined with a 43hp electric motor, it has a maximum output of 139hp at 5,700rpm with 265Nm of torque in first gear, and 235Nm in second to sixth gear.
Its battery is a Lithium-Ion polymer battery pack, which is 23% to 25% more efficient than a conventional nickel-metal-hydride battery and provides lower memory sensitivity, more efficient charge and discharge as well as improved maximum output.
Safety-wise, the IONIQ is equipped with vehicle stability management (VSM), front and rear parking system, seven airbags and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) which comes standard in both variants.
The HEV Plus is upgraded with additional features including a wireless charging system for smartphones, blind spot detection (BSD), lane keeping assist system (LKAS), automatic emergency braking system (AEB), smart cruise control system (SCC) and ran sensor.
The IONIQ also features a new generation high-resolution seven-inch TFT information cluster which displays various gauges and adapted background colour and gauges depending on drive mode.
A wireless inductive charging pad (Qi standard) for mobile phones is also offered with the IONIQ.
It comes in seven colours – Phantom White, Polar Black, Platinum Silver, Aurora Silver, Iron Grey, Marina Blue and Phoenix Orange for the HEV Plus – and features specially-designed two-tone 15- or 17-inch wheels.
The HEV variant is priced at RM100,328 OTR without insurance, while the HEV Plus is priced at RM110,828 OTR without insurance.
Meanwhile, HSDM also introduced the Care Plus programme which includes a five-year or 300,000km warranty for the vehicle, eight years unlimited mileage warranty for the battery and a battery price below RM10,000 for the following eight years if it needs replacing, three years or 60,000km free services which includes parts, labour and engine oil, three years guaranteed auto protection (GAP) insurance where customers will be fully reimbursed for the car if it’s declared a total loss within three years, and an interest rate as low as 2.28% based on the reducing balance calculation.
