The Kelana Jaya line of Rapid KL Light Rail Transit (LRT) will see a new generation four-coach train begin operations from today, known as the Kuala Lumpur Additional Vehicle (KLAV).

Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd CEO Datuk Dr Ir Zohari Sulaiman said 14 units of the KLAV, which are made up of Bombardier Innovia Metro 300, are able to increase the passenger capacity of the Kelana Jaya Line by 30%.

The trains are also equipped with emergency ventilation windows for passenger safety and comfort.

“This new set of trains will be utilised in phases according to the delivery schedule of our suppliers.

“All trains are expected to be received by mid-2017,” he said.
