Chevrolet has previously been rather quiet in Malaysia, and it has recently made a “comeback” with its latest generation Colorado, marking its revival in the country.

We have driven the previous generation before, but this one was full of surprises, and we believe whether you enjoy going offroading or you simply need a reliable workhorse for your needs, the Chevrolet Colorado could be the vehicle for you.

The current model has significantly improved compared to the previous generation, feeling more comfortable as well as solid.

The NVH has been significantly reduced, with hardly any noise entering the cabin even driving long distance on the highway, compared to the previous generation which tended to be quite loud.

This is thanks to thicker door glass, improved rubber seals for the windows and windscreen as well as new rainwater channel mouldings on the roof, making it a silent ride with some noise only beginning to be heard above certain speeds.

Driving was stable and smooth, bumps on the road were hardly felt, while handling was surprisingly good considering the size of the Colorado.

Chevrolet took us through an offroad track which went through side slopes, rocky and muddy terrain, and we also took it over rocks across a shallow stream.

The truck recovered in a snap after sliding through mud, the balance on the side slopes was stable and it handled the uneven terrain steadily; even though we don’t go offroading regularly, we were confident going through the trail in the Colorado.

The exterior design is far improved from the previous generation, so although it is a big vehicle it still looked sleek, not as bulky as its predecessor, though it maintained its toughness in appearance with angular lines and strong proportions.

A distinctive and sporty front fascia along with a muscular hood gives the truck a tough stance, and it features new auto headlights with slim LED Daytime Running Lights and Follow Me Home System, a new Sports Bar, alloy wheels and chrome exterior door handles, the Colorado has an unmistakable road presence that ensures it stands out from the crowd.

The seats were also comfortable, and we were able to sleep in the back even when the roads were slightly bumpy although the suspension was slightly more rigid than we would like.

We didn’t think much of the last generation Colorado, so we weren’t really expecting to be impressed by this one, but impressed we were.

Although it is still not quite the best pickup there is out there, it’s turning out to be worthy competition and is catching up fast.
