Honda Malaysia has announced it will be increasing locations to replace Takata front airbag inflators in affected vehicles.
The company is collaborating with Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PDB) in order to accelerate its efforts to reach affected customers by enabling them ti get the parts replaced at selected Petronas stations.
With this arrangement, Honda Malaysia now carries out replacement activities at three main venues – selected Petronas stations, Mobile Hub in shopping malls and all 84 Honda authorised service centres.
Besides these venues, customers can also change their affected Takata front airbag inflators at the locations of Honda Family Road Trip (HFRT), an outdoor nationwide event.
The defective Takata front airbag inflators may deploy with excessive internal pressure when activated, causing the airbag inflator to possibly rupture, which may result in injury or fatality of the driver and passenger.
Affected customers are strongly encouraged to make appointments at any Authorised Honda Service Centres or the selected PETRONAS Stations to avoid any delays or setbacks.
Replacement activities at the Mobile Hub in Shopping Malls and Honda Family Road Trips do not require advance appointment.
In addition to these activities, Honda Malaysia is also working closely with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to approach current owners affected by the Takata airbag inflator issue.
As of February 21, the stock availability for Takata driver front airbag inflators is 100%, and with the joint efforts of dealers, authorities and Honda Malaysia, the replacement of Takata driver front airbag inflators has now reached 75%.
Meanwhile, the stock availability for Takata passenger front airbag inflators is now reaching 75%.
Honda customers can check their vehicles recall status either by logging on to the website or by calling the Honda Toll Free number at 1-800-88-2020.
“Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. continues alerting and informing customers of the importance of replacing the affected vehicleís Takata airbag inflators, via increased frequency of postings on social media and SMS blast.
“Owners of Honda vehicles affected by the Takata airbag inflator product recall are advised to immediately get their vehicles checked and parts replaced at any Honda Authorised Service Centres, Shopping Mall Hubs or at Petronas Stations as soon as possible,” said the company in a statement.
