Official distributor of Kia vehicles in Malaysia, Naza Kia Malaysia, has launched the all-new Grand Carnival, available in two variants – 2.2D KX and 2.2D EX – priced at RM165,888 and RM185,888 respectively, OTR with insurance.
It’s powered by a 2.2-litre CRDi turbocharged diesel engine which generates 190hp and 440Nm peak torque, and is fitted with a torque converter six-speed automatic transmission.
The eight-seater MPV sports a wider looking stance and appears sleeker with a longer wheelbase of 3,060mm and measuring 5,115mm in length, 1,740mm in height and 1,985mm in width.
Its front face features Kia’s trademark tiger nose grille, wrap-around headlights and framed fog lamps, while the rear features wide rear lamps and broad metal surfaces.
The MPV also features a smart powered tailgate which opens automatically when the key is sensed in close proximity and two power sliding-doors which opens with a touch of a button.
The cabin of the Grand Carnival has a wide dashboard fitted with two glove compartments, one lying above the other, and the interior is fitted with individual leather wrapped seats with front and second rows treated with overhead consoles and trizone fully automatic air-conditioning ventilators.
It is also fitted with a tilting and telescopic steering wheel, foot parking brake and auto cruise control.
Third row seats can be folded completely to a flat position providing for larger baggage space while the second space is more flexible with an extra seat added or removed, providing additional space for third row passengers.
The company claims increased legroom space for the vehicle’s passengers, as well as higher headroom space due to lower seat cushions and new design of the roof whereby it no longer slopes to the tailgate, allowing more headroom for third row passengers.
The vehicle also boasts increased space; besides the two glove compartments, occupants also have access to storage spaces under the front armrest, which has space large enough to fit a handbag, as well as compartments in the rear fitted for more storage space.
It’s equipped with a range of multimedia entertainment systems such as MP3 CD player with six speakers, USB and AUX-in connectivity, and also comes with a 4.3 inch TFT LCD colour display touchscreen.
It is fitted with a rear view camera, and for parking assistance, the vehicle is equipped with front and rear parking sensors.
The Grand Carnival maintains its predecessor’s MacPherson front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, through which bump absorption with the hydraulic rebound spring, stiffer suspension bars and cross-member bush mountings.
Safety-wise, it’s equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist System, six airbags and HID head lamps with Daytime Running Lights.
