The second generation Mini Countryman was unveiled today, available in two variants – Cooper Countryman and Cooper S Countryman – priced at RM239,888 and RM269,888 respectively, OTR without insurance, and comes with Mini four years unlimited mileage warranty with free scheduled service.

The Cooper Countryman is powered by a 1.5L three-cylinder inline engine which generates 136hp and 220Nm peak torque, combined with a six-speed automatic Steptronic transmission, which takes it to 100km/h from a standstill in 9.6 seconds to reach a top speed of 200km/h.

Meanwhile, the Cooper S Countryman is powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder engine that produces 192hp and 280Nm peak torque, paired to an eight-speed Steptronic sports transmission, which takes it from 0 to 100km/h in 7.4 seconds before reaching a top speed of 224km/h.

Safety-wise, both variants are equipped with an antilock braking system (ABS) including brake assist, cornering brake control, electronic braking force distribution and dynamic braking light, central locking system with electronic immobiliser and crash sensor, Isofix, dynamic stability control (DSC) including dynamic traction control, electronic differential lock control (EDLC) and pull-away assistant, front and side airbags for driver and passenger and head airbags for all four outer seats, park distance control for the rear, and run-flat tyres and flat tyre indicator.

On the exterior, the Cooper variant features 18″ Pair Spoke light alloy wheels, black/white roof and mirror caps and roof rails and side sills in silver while the Cooper S features 19″ Mini Yours light alloy wheels, ALL4 bodykit, black/white roof and mirror caps, and roof rails and side sills in silver.

Inside, the Cooper Countryman comes with cloth firework upholstery in carbon black with Hazy Grey interior surface while the Cooper S Countryman comes with carbon black leather cross punch upholstery with Mini Yours Illuminated Piano Black interior surface, and both variants come with chrome line interior and carbon black colour line.

Both variants feature automatic two-zone air conditioning with rear air vents, cruise control with braking function, floor mats in velour, front armrest with integrated storage compartment, Keyless Go, rear folding armrest, storage compartment package and through-loading system with 40:20:40 rear seat folding and Mini Excitement package, and for the first time ever, it is equipped with auto LED headlights with cornering lights.

The Cooper variant is equipped with a multi-function sports leather steering wheel, while the Cooper S is equipped with a Multi-function John Cooper Works leather steering wheel with paddle shifters.

On top of that, the Cooper S Countryman also features electric sport seat adjustment with memory function and picnic bench.

The Countryman comes with three driving modes – Mid, Sport and Green – which can be selected using a rotary switch at the base of the gear or selector lever.

Both variants will be available for test drives on April 15 and 16 at The International Gallery at Alya Kuala Lumpur, and will also be available at all authorised Mini dealerships nationwide.
