Modenas today launched the Kriss MR2, which it believes would improve its market share in the segment to 10% by year-end, due to the bike’s improved specifications and competitive pricing, at a retail price of RM3,890.

This confidence is based on demand for a more affordable and value-for-money vehicle in the current economic scenario.

“We strongly believe the new Euro 3-compliant 110cc four stroke engine would be attractive to the younger generation who are looking for the perfect balance between power and value for money,” said Edaran Modenas Sdn Bhd (EMOS) CEO Amirudin Abd Kadir.

The bike, which features a rotary gear system, is powered by an engine capable of achieving 8.2hp at 7,500rpm and 8.2Nm peak torque at 5,500rpm.

Other features include sportier headlight and taillight design, while the 4.5L tank is capable of taking the bike up to 200km on one full tank.

It has an extra luggage compartment of 6.6L with a toolkit compartment under the seat, and the 17″ alloy rim is also fitted with a front disc brake for efficient braking.

The company targets total sales of 60,000 units by year end in both local and regional markets.

It said its technical efficiency in manufacturing ensures minimal operational cost in the development of the Kriss MR2, enabling the company to pass cost savings to customers.

“We have successfully increased our manufacturing efficiency and after sales services support, contributing to a substantial reduction of cost, which we are more than happy to transfer to our customers. At Modenas, we do not compromise on quality and are always aware of the needs of the low to middle income group market in introducing new models or variants,” said Amirudin.

The Kriss MR2 is a two tone body colour concept with the options of Sand White with Celebration Red, Strike Blue and Canary Yellow.

Meanwhile, in building up its after sales service support, Modenas will be opening its second training centre facility at Subang Service Centre by mid-April to cater better support to after sales and its dealer network.
