Naza Kia Malaysia today revealed the long awaited Optima GT for the local market, priced at RM179,888 OTR with insurance, only available locally in GT trim.

The car is powered by the new Theta II 2.0 T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine which produces 242hp at 6,000rpm and peak torque 350Nm at 1,400rpm, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, which takes it from 0 to 100km/h in 7.4 seconds.

It comes with three driving modes – Sport, Normal and Eco; the Sport mode adjusts the sensitivity of the throttle for maximum performance and the steering wheel would feel heavier for precise control of the car at high speed, while Normal mode takes the steering wheel and throttle back to its usual factory settings, and Eco reduces throttle sensitivity, lightens the steering wheel as well as slows down the air-conditioning system to reduce fuel consumption.

Safety-wise, the Optima GT is equipped with six airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), vehicle stability control (VSM), hill-start assist control (HAC) and an emergency stop signal (ESS) which flashes the hazard lights automatically when emergency brakes are applied.

Its design includes a new Dot Array Mesh Satin Chrome front signature grille, a sporty front bumper as well as a new rear bumper that incorporates dual exhausts and a diffuser.

Inside, it is designed with real aluminium trim around the centre console and pedals, while the centre fascia has been angled towards the driver by 8.5 degrees, and is fitted with a flat-bottomed D-shaped steering wheel.

Interior trim is made of leather and high quality polymer, while door panels and seats are lined with soft leather.

This generation Optima GT is bigger than its predecessor, being 10mm longer, 30mm wider and 10mm higher as well as with a wheelbase that is 10mm.

On the interior, space is also increased with 10mm more headroom, 25mm more legroom as well as 17mm more shoulder room in the rear and 20mm more shoulder space up front.

The car’s all-new headlights feature LED technology with daytime running lights, primed with dynamic bending light technology which turns the lights according to the angle of the steering wheel.

Besides that it also features a panoramic sunroof, smart trunk, smartphone wireless charger, automatic headlights and wipers, drive mode selection window control and electric seats with ventilation and memory function, among others.

The Optima GT comes in Gravity Blue, Aurora Black and Snow White Pearl.
