Perodua, through its newly appointed dealer MD Worlds Sdn Bhd, has opened its 199th sales outlet in Kota Samarahan as part of the company’s efforts to expand its presence in East Malaysia.

“East Malaysia is an important market for us as there is a lot of untapped potential here, particularly with all the development projects planned by the federal and state government,” said Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd managing director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin.

He added that the selection of MD Worlds was based on its experience in the automotive industry and knowledge of the market in Sarawak.

In the first quarter of 2017, Perodua sold a total of 50,300 vehicles, out of which only 5% came from East Malaysia.

The company is looking to further increase that number by improving its sales operations as well as expanding its operations with partners.

The dealership expects to expand its sales showroom to become a full fledged 3S centre by the end of next year.
