Volvo Car Malaysia has brought the V40 visually closer to its new 90 Series cars with the launch of the V40 T5 Inscription, the new face of the popular V40, priced at RM180,888 OTR without insurance.
The most prominent feature of this new update is the new Inscription grille mesh cradling the new Volvo Iron Mark and the ‘Thor’s Hammer’ headlights.
“In Malaysia, the V40 is our best-selling model after the XC90 making it a very important car for the company.
“We hope that the new updates in the V40 T5 Inscription will make this very successful model even more attractive to customers within this segment,” said Volvo Car Malaysia managing director Lennart Stegland.
Other additions to the exterior look include the new Inscription “rank mark” which was first introduced in the XC90.
Inscription denotes the highest trim level (Kinetic, Momentum, and Inscription) within the Volvo product range.
On the interior, Milled Aluminium replaces the Shimmer Graphite inlay and a new Inscription tread plate has been added.
The new Volvo Iron Mark update will carry across the entire car including the steering wheel, Sensus display, and the key fob.
The V40 T5 Inscription also includes the CleanZone logo on instrument panel air vents; the CleanZone technology ensures that outside air is effectively filtered before entering the cabin, removing harmful pollutants that are increasingly common in large urban areas.
The car will maintain the Drive-E powertrain which generates 245hp and 350Nm of torque that takes it from 0 to 100km/h in 6.3 seconds, paired with an eight-speed gearbox.
The City Safety – Volvo’s umbrella term for autonomous emergency braking (AEB) or collision avoidance and mitigation technology – active safety system has also been retained.
Other safety features include blind spot information system (BLIS), cross traffic alert (CTA), anti-lock brake system (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD), emergency brake assist (EBA), hydraulic brake assist (HBA), ready alert brake (RAB), fading brake support (FBS), electronic stability control (ESC) including advanced stability control and dynamic torque vectoring and Isofix, among several others.
The V40 T5 Inscription comes in Ice White, Onxy Black, Osmium Grey, and new colour Luminous Sand.
Volvo Car Malaysia also indicated it will be releasing the V40 T4 at a later date.
