Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) recorded a solid performance across the board in the first half of this year, delivering a total of 5,913 vehicles and servicing a total of 61,850 vehicles, retaining its leading market share of 2.2% in the premium brand segment as at May 2017.

The company’s positive growth was driven primarily by the locally produced limousines – the C-Class, E-Class and S-Class – with a total of 3,663 units sold.

The C-Class topped the list with 2,075 units sold, followed by the E-Class and S-Class which recorded 1,358 units and 230 units sold, respectively.

Mercedes-Benz Cars vice president, sales and marketing Mark Raine is confident the brand is on track for another record year in 2017, in view of the good momentum achieved in the second quarter.

“We have had a very successful first half in 2017, ending it with a new best-ever month in June further extending our lead in the premium segment.

“This was possible due to the comprehensive customer-centric strategy, the broad premium product portfolio and superior services,” he said.

Its compact cars sold a total of 739 units sold, while SUVs recorded 1,233 units sold and the Dream Car range sold a total of 268 units in the first half of 2017.

In the same period, MBM launched a total of five dealerships, the newest being the Mercedes-Benz Hap Seng Kuching Autohaus, the first integrated one-stop centre in East Malaysia.

The other dealerships opened in the first half of 2017 include the Mercedes-Benz Cycle & Carriage Bintang Cheras Autohaus, Mercedes-Benz Hap Seng Bukit Tinggi Autohaus and Mercedes-Benz Mofaz Kota Bahru and Kuala Terenganu Autohauses.

To date, MBM has 31 dedicated dealerships nationwide, enabling it to achieve a double digit growth of 17% in aftersales.

Meanwhile, the company also announced it would be introducing OneWeb, which would provide a one-stop integrated web platform to facilitate the needs of new and existing customers.

Combined with the introduction of the Mercedes-Benz Online Test Drive Booking System and the Mercedes-Benz Online Service Booking, OneWeb would allow customers to reserve vehicles for a test drive or make a workshop appointment online.

OneWeb will be accessible from the fourth quarter of this year.

Besides that, fans and potential customers can also explore the brand through a mobile virtual reality experience and interactive digital signage through the Mercedes-Benz Gallery.

Additionally, MBM will also be introducing SalesTouch, a mobile sales tool which enables product experts and sales consultants to provide customers with real time information, including customising their cars to desired specifications and providing real-time update on its availability.
