UK-based automotive blogger Ian Seabrook has recently shared on his blog his latest purchase – a Proton Saga Aeroback originally purchased in 1990, which he bought for £50 (RM280).

Seabrook, who goes by the name of “HubNut” on YouTube, was quite positive in his reviews, saying it is “a jolly car to drive”.

“It ambles along very merrily, and is a good steer too, even if it does start rolling about and threatens to understeer if you get too silly with it.

“As a car to simply jump in and drive, it’s exactly what most people want, which is why they became so remarkably successful,” he said in the post.

He added that, “It isn’t thrilling, it isn’t fancy, it’s just very competent.”

Seabrook bought the car with plans to fix it up and have it running properly, and highlighted some problems the car is currently facing such as faulty brakes and temperature gauge, among some others.

Besides the Saga, he also owns a Perodua Kancil, or Perodua Nippa as it is known in the UK, which he bought in 2015.

The Saga made its debut in 1985, based on the 1983 Mitsubishi Lancer Fiore sedan, and both saloon and hatchback versions of the Saga were first launched in the UK in March 1989.
