Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd (BSH) has introduced the 2017 Honda CB500XA, equipped with a new muffler casing and available in three new colours – Asteroid Black Metallic, Candy Rosy Red, and Pearl Horizon White.

It is powered by a DOHC 471cc, liquid cooled parallel twin engine which generates 50hp at 8,500rpm and peak torque of 44Nm at 7,000rpm, mated to a six speed manual transmission.

The ‘triangle’ proportion of crankshaft, main shaft and countershaft is very similar to that of Honda’s four-cylinder RR engines and much of the internal structure and engineering is taken directly from both the CBR600RR and CBR1000RR.

This purpose-built lightweight power plant uses a square bore and stroke of 67mm x 66.8mm which helped in enhancing the peak power, and is also identical to the bore size of the CBR600RR, while the piston shape is based upon those used in the CBR1000RR to reduce piston noise at high revs.

It is fitted with LED headlight and taillight, and carries a 17.5-litre fuel tank which enables riders to go further with the bike.

The CB500XA will be available in Honda Impian showrooms from August 9, with a recommended showroom price starting from RM31,893.28, inclusive of GST but not including road tax, insurance and registration.

The model comes with two years or 20,000km manufacturing warranty, whichever comes first.
