Goodyear today launched its latest tire in the luxury SUV highway segment, the EfficientGrip Performance SUV, in a regional event held in Buriram, Thailand, which the company claims delivers a quieter driving experience with “maximized comfort and exceptional wet braking performance.”

The SUV segment is expected to increase with a compound annual growth rate of 26% from 2012 to 2017 in Asia Pacific, and in efforts to meet the growing demand, Goodyear has introduced the tyres as part of its commitment to continued innovation and development of high performance tyres.

The new tyre features technology such as Goodyear’s QuietTred Technology, with noise dampening tread design, as well as FlexContact Technology, designed with a shock absorbing cushion layer compound, paired with new polymers tread compound for increased grip in wet road conditions.

Besides that, the tyre has optimised microstructures for increased grip in wet road conditions, as well as wider and reinforced shoulder blocks with wider centerline sipes that offers increased contact area during braking, providing shorter braking distances.

The tire comes with a shock absorbing cushion layer compound with optimized formulation, as well as increased insulation of the tire structure. It is also equipped with an innovative hexagonal bead shape to enhance rim contact. Altogether, these features reduce tire vibrations, resulting in a comfortable drive.

For the Malaysian market, the new Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance SUV tyres will be offered in 17-inch to 20-inch rim diameter variants, with up to 20 sizes available.

Consumers can purchase the tyres at Goodyear Autocare or Servitekar outlets, as well as authorised Goodyear dealers nationwide from October onwards.
