Honda Malaysia has updated the completion ratio for replacement of affected Takata front airbag inflators, for both driver and passenger, is at 70% as of August.

Individually, the completion ratio for Takata driver front airbag inflators is at 81.2% while for passenger front airbag inflators is at 59.5%.

The company has also ensured stock availability for the driver and passenger front airbag inflators is at 100% as of August 2017.

It is continuing its replacement efforts at Mobile Hubs in selected Shopping Malls and Petronas Station Hubs, providing convenient venues for customers to replace the affected Takata front airbag inflators.

Besides that, the Honda Malaysia Mobile Hub in various Shopping Malls in Peninsular Malaysia will be available every weekend in the month of August.

It is critical that the defective Takata front airbag inflators be replaced urgently as they may deploy with excessive internal pressure when activated.

The airbag inflator casing might rupture, which may result in injury or fatality of the driver and passenger.

Affected customers are strongly encouraged to make an appointment at any Honda Authorised Service Centre to avoid delays or setbacks in replacing the Takata front airbag inflators.

However, replacement activities at the Mobile Hubs in selected Shopping Malls and Petronas Station Hubs do not require advance appointment; walk-ins are welcomed at these locations.

Honda customers can check their vehicles recall status either by logging on to the website or calling the Honda Toll Free number 1-800-88-2020.

“Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. continues alerting and informing customers of the importance of replacing the affected vehicle’s Takata airbag inflators, via increased frequency of postings on social media, SMS blast and notification letters.

“Owners of Honda vehicles affected by the Takata front airbag inflator product recall are advised to immediately get their vehicles checked and parts replaced at any Honda Authorised Service Centre, Shopping Mall Hubs or at Petronas Station Hubs as soon as possible,” said the company in a statement.
