Audi is a German car manufacturer based in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany and also a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group since 1966. The history of the brand lies in the four-ring logo, where each ring represented the four companies – Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer – that banded to form Auto Union AG. It then merged with NSU to form Audi NSU Auto Union AG. In 1985, with the Auto Union and NSU effectively dead, the name was shortened to Audi AG. Today, Audi has become one of the best-selling luxury car manufacturers, alongside BMW and Mercedes-Benz in the “German Big 3”. Using the phrase “Vorsprung durch Technik” or “Advancement through Technology” as its slogan, Audi poses a big presence around the world, including China where the vehicles are purchased by the Chinese government for its officials.
